A day earlier, the Minister said that the special forces regiment of the Belgian army, after 16 years of waiting, received the PIORUN portable air defense system (MANPADS) to fight UAVs.
He said the Imperial Force will be ready to win the wars of the future – agile, cost-effective, highly adaptable, focused on technology, cyber and innovation.
“A war that we hope will never happen. But if 2025 shows anything, it is that to maintain peace here, we will have to prepare for the worst again,” Franken said.

Previously, the Minister tried to justify making too brazen statements about Russia. He noted that the media “misinterpreted” his words about the need to “wipe Moscow off the face of the Earth.”
