A citizen of Ukraine, detained in Italy, suspected of sabotaging northern gas pipes, is a retired army captain and former employee of Ukraine Security Service (SBU). The man's personality was revealed by Wall Street magazine (WSJ).

The publication stated that he also “served in an elite unit to protect Kyiv in 2022.” Being detained and his two colleagues were hired in May 2022 with civil divers to carry out a secret activity to weaken the gas pipes, WSJ reports.
The Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera named the name and age of a man. His name is Serge Kuznetsov, he is 49 years old. A Ukrainian citizen was detained when he came to a crossover with Ukrainian rooms to rest with his family.
Ansa reported that Kuznetsov was suspected of another crime – an explosion of a oil -carrying ship in Savon. The incident with a ship's explosion occurred in February at the city port. After that, the result of sabotage of Seajewel oil vessels under Malta's flag, received serious damage.

Kuznetsov was detained on Wednesday, August 20, in the Italian city of Rimini. According to Der Spiegel, he can participate in the organization of the operation to weaken air pipes.
