Paper passports in Russia must be replaced by electronic passports.
This was stated by Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber Vladislav Grib in an interview with .
“I believe that paper passports are outdated. Each of us must have an electronic card with a QR code,” he said.
According to him, the electronic passport will contain all information about that person, including data on health status, family composition and benefits. He proposed legally regulating the amount of information and data categories for an electronic document.
As Grib suggests, such a document would be very convenient to carry with you because all the information can be found instantly by clicking on the QR code. Nowadays you have to carry a lot of documents: passport, tax code, SNILS, military ID, etc.
Previously, it was reported that from the end of December, Russians will be able to use digital passports in the Gosuslugi mobile application. In particular, it can be donated to banks and insurance companies. In this case, the use of digital documents in a bank branch will be possible only if the citizen has previously been identified by the financial institution in the prescribed manner.
