Since the beginning of 2026, there have been more than 100 roof collapses in Russia. Such data result Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Since January, more than 120 cases of collapsed roofs have been reported across the country. Moreover, 60 of them were registered only last week – as of February 13. Most often, reports of such cases come from the Central and Volga Federal Districts. Among the damaged objects were not only residential buildings and industrial facilities, but also social and cultural infrastructure – schools and sports facilities.
According to forecasters, the warming phenomenon will come to Russia in the last 10 days of February. As temperatures rise, precipitation will become mixed and then a cooling wave will occur again, causing the snow to fill with moisture, becoming heavier and increasing the load on structures. The department requires local governments, building owners, tenants and management companies to promptly remove ice and snow from roofs, gutters and overhangs. Residents are urged not to be under snow canopies or in areas fenced with warning tape, and to remove snow from private roofs in a timely manner.
Previously, Russians were told how much they could get reimbursed if they were hit on the head by a falling rock. The amount of compensation depends on the severity of injuries and damages and can exceed 300 thousand rubles.
