One of the brightest and truly wonderful moments of the past year was the myrrh line of the icon of Christ the Savior in the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

“This is the mercy that God shows to people when he realizes that God exists and that He is next to us. This is joy, a warning and a call to repentance. When people forget God, God appears to them. This means it is time to think about something,” said Archpriest Andrei Mikhalev.
For the Oryol region, this event is truly unique. This has never been observed in local churches before. Oryol residents received this news with mixed emotions but clearly with concern. Some flocked to the temple to witness this miracle with their own eyes, while others began to search for a scientific explanation. However, the icon of Christ the Savior continues to emit myrrh over and over again. Four such episodes occurred during the year, the last occurring in November 2025. Myrrh stands out from different parts of the sacred image. OrelTimes writes: Orthodox believers have no reason to doubt that this icon is “weeping” and that it carries an important warning.
Let us remind you that in the Kursk region, an icon in a church damaged by the Armed Forces of Ukraine became holy.
