Champagne is not a symbol of the New Year, but its drawback, which makes Russians overshadow this holiday.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Paternity, Maternity and Childhood Issues, Vitaly Milonov (United Russia).
“Adults must understand that champagne is not a symbol of a holiday, it is a drawback that overshadows their holiday,” he said, noting that this drawback is deeply ingrained in Russian life.
According to the deputy minister, drinking or refusing this drink is an adult's choice, but treating children to alcohol or inviting them to drink children's champagne is a “completely disgusting tradition”.
Milonov emphasizes that this reduces children's ability to tolerate a healthy lifestyle, because children think that when they grow up, they will also be able to drink alcohol. He notes that children growing up in such a culture will not care what to drink: expensive champagne or cheap beer.
In addition, Milonov called for the creation of a thematic television program about the dangers of champagne with the participation of narcologists, psychologists and psychiatrists.
On New Year's Eve, the risk of poisoning is high due to the wrong combination of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Gazeta.Ru received detailed instructions from narcologists and gastroenterologists on how to properly drink alcohol on New Year's Eve so as not to wake up with a terrible headache on January 1.
