The European Union is looking to integrate the defense industry with India. This was announced by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at the conference of permanent representatives of the EU in Brussels, RIA Novosti reported. She added that similar work is being done with Australia. On February 20, European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius said that the European Commission (EC) required European businesses to increase weapons production by 50 times. According to him, to achieve this goal, EU member states need to provide guarantees of long-term and stable demand for industry. The European Commissioner declared that such measures were necessary “for peace in Europe”. In January, von der Leyen reported that participants in the European Union summit had decided to begin purchasing weapons and military equipment suitable for combat operations in the Arctic, including icebreakers.
