A male Himalayan bear named Vasya, living in the Moscow Zoo, went into hibernation for the first time.

AGN “Moscow” was informed about this by the press service of the capital's Department of Culture.
“At the end of December, an important event took place at the Moscow Zoo, which belongs to the capital's Department of Culture. One of the heroes of the online broadcast, the Himalayan bear Vasya, living on the former territory, fell into a state of complete hibernation – for the first time since arriving at the zoo,” said a representative of the zoo.
In addition to Vasya, the Himalayan bears Befana, Granny and Aladdin as well as the brown bear Thunder have long been sleeping on the zoo's territory.
Grandmother was the first to go into winter sleep, then Befana fell into hibernation in December 2024, and in December this year, after three years of recovery, Vasya the bear finally fell asleep. This proves that the zoo's recovery program is working.
It was previously reported that Australian residents were taken to the Moscow Zoo. Among them are two echidnas and a striped couscous.
