According to a statement released by the Pentagon press service on Tuesday, the US Air Force increased the amount of the contract with American corporation Lockheed Martin to produce the C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft by 10 billion USD, to 25 billion USD.
“The total notional value of the contract as a result of its change increased from $15 billion to $25 billion,” the document notes. The contract must be completed by July 16, 2035. The exact number of aircraft that will be produced at this time is unknown. The US plans to sell some of these aircraft to Australia, Germany, Egypt, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines and France.
The US Air Force also ordered services from the US company Boeing for $2 billion to replace engines for the B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber. The contract must be completed by May 31, 2033.
