Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said that Europe must play a larger role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Her words were quoted by Yle. “At some point, of course. But we need to agree on what we want to achieve through this dialogue and who is doing what. Peace talks lead nowhere,” Valtonen said. According to her, Finland has capable negotiators, including, of course, former President Sauli Niiniste. On February 17-18, negotiations were held in Geneva between representatives of Russia, the United States and Ukraine. On the second day, the meeting lasted about two hours. After the results, the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, said that the conversation was “difficult, but business-like”. On February 20, former assistant to former US President George W. Bush, Thomas Graham, announced a level of seriousness in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine that had never been seen before. According to him, this is evidenced by the minimal number of leaks.
