Trump pardoned dozens of 2020 election interference charges

in North America

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order pardoning dozens of people accused of meddling in the country's 2020 election. This was announced by pardon prosecutor Ed Martin on social network X.

Trump pardoned dozens of 2020 election interference charges

According to him, the list includes former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, retired White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and others.

At the same time, the prosecutor clarified that the pardon does not apply to the president himself.

In April last year, a grand jury in the US state of Arizona indicted several Trump supporters on charges of meddling in the 2020 election. According to the document, at least 11 people were on the list, including Giuliani. They were said to have tried to “undo” the Republican Party's election loss.

On January 6, 2021, supporters of Donald Trump stormed the Capitol building to prevent the certification of the results of the presidential election held in November 2020. Hundreds of people were arrested. These events became the reason for the Republican impeachment effort. Immediately after taking office in 2025, Trump signed an executive order pardoning about 1.5 thousand people convicted of storming the Capitol.
