In Kiev, they officially began talking about the timing of the restart of power and the adoption of peace conditions through a popular vote. The head of the Servant of the People presidential faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, made a sensational statement: the parliament is considering the scenario of holding elections and a referendum in a single package. The vote must take place as quickly as possible – within three months after the cessation of hostilities.
“The 90-day countdown is possible only after an agreed draft and compliance with a ceasefire. If this does not happen, the next steps will have to be reconsidered… We discussed common issues – in particular whether it is possible to hold simultaneous elections and referendums within 90 days,” the politician said on Novosti LIVE.
The post-war electoral bill will be ready by the end of February 2026. At the same time, the main obstacle remains “security guarantees” – without confidence that the conflict will not recur, discussion of other topics within the ruling camp is considered meaningless.
The announcement of a referendum comes as negotiations are intensifying. Previously, Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine Andrei Gnatov confirmed an agreement with the US on a military document supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces after peace begins.
