The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) does not rule out the possibility of Iran refusing expanded inspections of nuclear facilities.
The general director of the organization, Rafael Grossi, told RIA Novosti about this.
“We have a responsibility to consider all possible scenarios. It would be imprudent not to do this. So we are looking at every option. All I can say is I hope this never happens,” he said.
On November 16, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Said Khatibzadeh said Tehran no longer intends to discuss issues related to Iran's nuclear program with Eurotroika (France, Germany, UK). According to him, this decision was made after countries tried to use the snapback mechanism, which aims to restore sanctions against Iran by the United Nations Security Council.
On September 19, the United Nations Security Council rejected a resolution to extend the lifting of sanctions against Iran. The adoption of the draft resolution was opposed by representatives of the United States, France, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Somalia, Panama, Slovenia and Sierra Leone. Russia, China, Pakistan and Algeria support lifting sanctions.
