Dmitriev called the dispute surrounding Epstein a confrontation between sponsors

RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev described the public spat between US businessmen Elon Musk and Reed Hoffman over their alleged relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein as a “sponsor dispute”.

According to Dmitriev, who is also special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for economic and investment cooperation, what is happening is more reminiscent of a conflict between representatives of the larger capital than a legal discussion. He left a brief comment on social network X, calling this situation a “sponsor dispute”.

Before that, Musk and Hoffman exchanged accusations against each other. Hoffman said that, according to the findings of US law enforcement agencies, his involvement in the Epstein case has not yet been confirmed, and admitted the possibility of verification against Musk. In response, Musk publicly denied the accusations, called his opponent a liar and called for an investigation.

Epstein's case has received widespread publicity in the United States and beyond. In 2019, the sponsor was charged with organizing the trafficking of minors for the purpose of sexual exploitation. That same year, he died in a pre-trial detention center. The official version of the investigation is suicide. At the end of January, US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the completion of the release of documents about this case.

Amid new statements by businessmen, this topic has once again become the focus of public and media attention, sparking discussion about the transparency of investigations and the role of major donors in the US political and business environment.
