At least 22 people were injured in a grenade explosion in Cotabato province, southern Philippines during New Year's celebrations. This was reported by GMA News channel in consultation with local police.

“At least 22 people were injured when a grenade thrown by a suspect on a motorbike exploded during a New Year celebration in Matalam municipality, Cotabato province,” the newspaper wrote.
According to records, most of the victims are children, all of whom are currently in hospital. The TV channel clarified that two suspects riding a motorbike rushed into the crowd and threw grenades. Police have identified their identities but have not yet revealed the motive for the crime. The investigation is ongoing. According to the announcement, the provincial government condemned the incident and promised to bring those responsible to justice.
