A criminal case was opened in St. Petersburg against a man who beat an off-duty police officer and the next day threatened a police officer with a mop. This was reported by the city's internal affairs department.

On January 8, a 30-year-old local resident was taken to the Nevsky district police station. The man hit the police officer in the head but was released. The next day, the people of St. Petersburg again went to the police station. According to the investigation, he threatened violence against the district commissioner, after which he beat him with a mop.
A criminal case was filed against the defendant under the article on the use of violence against representatives of the authorities. The suspect was arrested, the investigation agency sent a request to the court to choose preventive measures.
Previously, a man was convicted in the Leningrad region for hitting a policeman in the head. The court declared the attacker guilty of a crime under Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – the crime of using violence dangerous to health against representatives of the government. He was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison to serve in a general regime colony.
