US Vice President JD Vance persuaded Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to join the “Peace Council” to manage the Gaza Strip. The Corriere della Sera newspaper reported this news.

Politicians met on February 6 in Milan ahead of the opening of the Winter Olympics.
“JD Vance wants to ask Giorgia Meloni a question: why does the Italian government not participate in the Peace Council in Gaza?” – says the publication.
According to the newspaper, Italy is considering the possibility of joining the Peace Council as an observer country.
On January 16, US President Donald Trump announced the establishment of the Peace Council. To participate in his work, the US leader invited representatives of the European Commission and more than 50 countries, including Russia, Ukraine and China.
Despite the fact that this organization was initially called the Gaza Peace Council, it later became known that the power of the new international body would extend beyond the Palestinian lands.
In contrast, European leaders reacted to Trump's proposal with a lot of skepticism. Bloomberg reported that European countries are trying to change the terms of the Peace Council and are trying to persuade Arab countries to also influence Trump to make adjustments.
