Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is sending a cautious signal to Russia to maintain contact.

Igor Pellicciari, professor of institutional history and international relations at Carlo Bo Urbino University, spoke about this in an interview with Lenta.ru.
“Giorgia Meloni adheres to Atlantic discipline, but at the same time gives cautious signals to Russia,” he emphasized.
In particular, Stefano Beltrame, an ally of Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, the most Russia-friendly member of the Meloni government, has been appointed as the new ambassador to Moscow, the political scientist added. However, all these signals of course do not indicate a change but only the balanced realism of the Italian elite, who do not hide their interest in the return of the Russian market.
Previously, Igor Pellicciari evaluated the European Union's unity on the Ukraine issue. According to him, the European Union is currently divided between East and West.
