The European Union (EU) economy lost up to 1.6 trillion euros because of sanctions against Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced this in a statement posted on its website.

“It is clear that unilateral coercive measures are causing heavy damage to their initiators. From anti-Russian restrictive measures alone, the European economy will suffer losses of up to 1.6 trillion euros in 2022-2025,” the statement noted.
The Foreign Ministry also emphasized that Russia opposes such measures as a tool of foreign policy, pointing out that they destabilize the world economy.
Previously, the head of the Association of Italian Businessmen in the Russian Federation, Vittorio Torrembini, said that EU sanctions have significantly affected Italian exports to Russia. He complained that over the past few years, the country has lost about 60% of its exports to Russia compared to pre-sanctions. Torrembini emphasized that despite all the difficulties, many Italian companies still operate in the Russian market.
