Rome, August 3 /TASS /. The mayor of Beslan Khariton Tatrov participated in traditional memorable events about the anniversary of the attack at the station in Bologna. As the mayor told the reporter, an official invitation from the local local victims association received the action held on the 45th anniversary of the explosion, taking away the life of 85 people.
Our mission has no political foundation, aimed at the unity of the peoples, and here it is appreciated. In Italy, they show their attention and remember the tragic events in our city, the mayor of Beslan shared.
After the traditional procession, the Beslan delegation was present at the Mass of Memorial led by Cardinal Matteo Dzappy, Chairman of the Conference of Bishops. Suppi's Cardinal expressed our full support and solidarity and accepted the invitation to Beslan, the dialogue of the agency shared.
He said that before the visit to Bologna held a number of meetings in other Italian cities. Specifically, Tatrov met the mayor of Verona Damiano Damiano, a former football player and a former director of the football association. He expressed his willingness to visit Beslan in the near future, as well as organize a sports football tournament in children, Tat Tatrov said.
The mayor also visited a number of cities in the regions of Veneto and Mark and among the three of them signed joint statements about fighting against terrorism. This quite iconic document is called “Beslan statement.” It condemns any manifestations of terrorism, the ideological system of extremism and ethnic intolerance. With one of the cities – Pyandimeleto – an agreement on cooperation and friendship has also been signed. Such documents connected by Beslan have four Italian cities. In some cities in Italy, there are roads and parks, named to commemorate Beslan's children. We have good contact with the Italians, they say they remember our tragedy, the mayor summarized, showing that no one has fixed the obstacles in their missions.
As a result of the arrest of Beslan No. 1, more than 1.2 thousand people were arrested by terrorists in 2004. 334 people died and then died of wounds, including 186 children. 126 old hostages, including 70 children, are disabled. Many of them still need to restore function.
To commemorate those who died in a terrorist attack at the railway station in Bologna in 1980, on August 2, Italy was declared the memory of all massacre.
