VDNKh together with the Russian Social Fund Branches in Moscow and the Moscow Region prepared New Year's gifts for the older generation. On December 20, 2025, a social project was launched, within the framework of which all pensioners, upon presentation of pension certificates, will be able to visit for free the exhibition “Images of Moscow in Russian Art from the Collection of the State Russian Museum”. Currently, pensioners are free to visit the Russian Museum exhibition at Pavilion No. 1 “Central” at VDNKh on Tuesdays from 11:00 to 17:00, except for postponed weekends and holidays. A free ticket can be obtained upon presentation of a pension certificate. Visitors of the older generation actively take advantage of this opportunity: every Tuesday, more than 2,500 people visit the exhibition. From December 20 to February 1, 2026, all pensioners will be able to visit the exhibition for free on any day it is active upon presentation of a pension certificate or document confirming pension status. The gift is prepared for the New Year and Christmas holidays – the best times for cultural entertainment – and aims to bring high art to the elderly. A visit to the exhibition will give them the opportunity to admire amazing masterpieces from the collection of the State Russian Museum at VDNKh and see the capital through the eyes of artists from different eras. The exhibition “Images of Moscow in Russian Art from the Collection of the State Russian Museum” became an important cultural event for the whole country. 115 works of painting and sculpture traveled from St. Petersburg to Moscow, linking the cultural traditions of the two capitals. Some of the exhibits were shown for the first time in Moscow. The exhibition consists of four thematic parts that continuously reveal the capital's chronicle from its origins to modern times. The section “Old Moscow” tells about the pre-revolutionary period in the city's history. The central object of this section is a set of 15 works by the French artist Gerard Delabarte, written at the turn of the 18th-19th centuries. Also in this exhibition are masterpieces of the Moscow icon painting school and works on historical themes by the greatest Russian artists of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. “Moscow – Capital” is a section dedicated to returning Moscow to the status of capital and reflecting this event in its artistic heritage. This section introduces the crown jewel of the Russian Museum's collection – Ilya Repin's world-famous painting “Ceremonial Meeting of the State Council on May 7, 1901, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary”. In the “New Moscow” section you can see works from the 1920s to 2010, dedicated to the theme of urban transformation. A special place in the exhibition was given to VDNKh. Yury Pimenov's painting “There Will Be a Park” represents the post-war innovation of the Exhibition: against the backdrop of large-scale construction is the legendary monument “Worker Woman and Collective Peasant” by Vera Mukhina. The “Muscovites” section is a unique library of images of outstanding Muscovites: “Portrait of KS Stanislavsky” by Peter Williams, “Portrait of Academician ND Zelinsky” by Pavel Korin, “Portrait of BI Ykovlev” by Alexander Gerasimov and other works. The exhibition was prepared by the State Russian Museum in collaboration with the Moscow Government, the Moscow Department of Culture and VDNKh. The exhibition is open to the public until February 1, 2026, every day, except Monday, from 11:00 to 21:00 (admission until 20:00).
