Ministry experts have prepared a preliminary assessment of spring floods on rivers in Russia. Residents of the Volgograd region, according to forecasts, should prepare for a quiet season, while in some other regions of the country the situation may be more tense.

According to meteorologists, the nature of spring floods in the Volgograd region in 2026 will be moderate. On the Don, Medveditsa and Khoper rivers, the expected water levels during the flood season are predicted to be lower than climatic standards. The situation on the Tersa River is considered stable.
According to preliminary calculations, the amount of water reaching the large reservoirs of the Volga-Kama terrace in the second quarter of 2026 (the flood peak period) will correspond to the long-term average value. The water flow into the Volga River is also consistent with conventional indicators.
The most difficult situation is expected in the Central, Siberian and Far Eastern districts, where water levels will exceed normal levels.
