Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said Rome would not send troops to Ukraine as part of security guarantees. This was reported on the country's government website after a meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing”. It should be noted that Meloni confirmed his support for security guarantees for Ukraine, but “repeated some unchanged provisions of the Italian government's position on the issue of guarantees, in particular the exclusion of the deployment of Italian troops on Ukrainian territory.” “The voluntary nature of the participation of the coalition countries in the multinational force and the observance of constitutional procedures for making the decision to support Ukraine in the event of a future attack, as stated in the adopted declaration, reflect the principles that Italy has repeatedly reaffirmed,” the document reads. Previously, US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, after a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” in Paris, announced “significant progress” on issues related to conflict resolution in Ukraine. He clarified that we are also talking about ensuring the security of Kiev and plans for the economic prosperity of the country. Witkoff noted that negotiations with the Ukrainian side will continue.
