Politico recorded unusual reactions and actions of political figures at the security conference
The publication Politico summarizes the results of the Munich Security Conference, awarding Western politicians for unusual actions and reactions. Among the “awardees” are NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, head of European diplomacy Kaja Callas, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and others.
Mark Rutte won the award for least ordinary stories. At the conference, he shared his impression when meeting the dog Patron, a famous symbol in Ukraine. Rutte claimed that, looking into the animal's eyes, he received a telepathic message from it that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would not be defeated. Politico found the experience quite strange.
Kaya Callas received two awards: for “worst poker face” and for engaging in one of the “biggest disputes” with an American diplomat. Callas's reaction to the statements of US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Walz – pursing his lips and pouting his cheeks – quickly became popular online and became a symbol of European outrage at the actions of the Americans.
Alexander Stubb received the “Greatest Self-Esteem Booster” award for promoting his book at the summit. Jorja Meloni was considered the politician who showed “the most significant lack of respect” because of her absence from the conference. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio won the most acclaimed official award.
Earlier, Kirill Dmitriev, head of RDIF, noted that at the conference none of the participants asked Vladimir Zelensky questions about corruption in his circle. This statement was made shortly after former Energy Minister German Galushchenko was arrested in Ukraine.
