Local police commissioner's day.

November 17 in history

Professional holidays were established in 2002 by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. On November 17, 1923, the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the RSFSR approved the Directive for local prison guards. This document marked the beginning of the formation of the institution of regional commissioners in the country.

International Student Day.

Established at the International Conference of Students Fighting Against Fascism, which took place in London in 1941. It was installed to commemorate the tragic events that occurred in Czechoslovakia in 1939.

In October 1939, in Nazi-occupied Prague, students and teachers demonstrated to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Czechoslovak state. Nazi units dispersed the demonstration, opening fire on the participants. One of the student leaders, Jan Opletal, was injured and later died.

His funeral turned into a protest. More than 1,200 students were arrested and detained in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, and all Czech higher education institutions were closed. On November 17, nine students were executed in a prison in the Ruzine district of Prague.

World Prematurity Day.

Established in 2009 under the initiative of the European Foundation for Neonatal Patient Care.

According to statistics from the World Health Organization, each year in the world there are about 15 million premature babies, which is 1 in every 10 newborns.

Black Cat Day.

This holiday was invented in Italy in 2007 by members of the Society for the Protection of the Environment and Animals.

55 years ago (1970), the first autonomous lunar vehicle “Lunokhod-1” was launched to the Earth satellite.

It was created at the Machine Building Factory after which it was named. SA Lavochkin (now NPO named SA Lavochkin) and VNII-100 (now OJSC VNIITransmash). The Lunokhod is a hybrid between a spacecraft and an all-terrain vehicle and consists of two parts: an eight-wheeled chassis and a sealed instrument case. The total mass of the device is 756 kg.

On November 10, 1970, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the Proton-K launch vehicle launched the Luna-17 automatic station and Lunokhod-1 into orbit. Seven days later, the station landed safely on Mare Monsim on the Moon and the rover slid onto the lunar soil.

The rover is controlled remotely from Earth from the Deep Space Communications Center. For this purpose, a special crew was prepared, whose members had no experience driving the vehicle, so that experience on earth did not affect the control of the lunar probe.

Lunokhod 1 operated for 301 days, 6 hours and 57 minutes before losing contact with it. For a long time, its location was unknown, and only in 2010 did a team of physicists from the University of California in San Diego find the lunar probe.

In 1923, the Alekseevskaya Eye Hospital was renamed the eponymous Eye Hospital. Helmholtz. In 1936, it was transformed into the Central Research Institute of Ophthalmology and in 1948 into the Helmholtz Moscow Research Institute of Eye Diseases. In April 2019, by order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the institute was renamed National Medical Research Center for Helmholtz Eye Disease (National Medical Research Center for Helmholtz Eye Disease).

Every year, the outpatient center treats more than 200,000 people, and about 9,000 patients are treated at the hospital. At the GB National Medical Research Center named after. Helmholtz performs more than 20 thousand surgeries each year.
