The weather will be shaped by a baric ridge stretching from Scandinavia to the lower reaches of the Don River. The sky will be less cloudy and mostly dry, which will help the sun's rays warm the air masses a bit, but temperatures will still be significantly below climate standards.
During the day in Moscow, the temperature is forecast to be minus 11-13 degrees, in the range from minus 11 to minus 16 degrees. West wind 1-6m/sec. Atmospheric pressure will increase and reach 755 mm of mercury, higher than normal.
On Thursday, February 5, without significant rain, temperatures will drop to minus 20-22 degrees at night and minus 12-14 degrees are expected during the day.
Previously, weather forecaster Mikhail Leus reported that the first 5 days of February could become the coldest days in Moscow in the 21st century. During the first three days of the month, the average air temperature in the capital was minus 18.9 degrees, 12.2 degrees lower than the long-term average. It is expected that Muscovites only have two icy nights left to survive – February 5 and 6.
