French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Egypt on Monday, October 13, to attend the ceasefire ceremony in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by the newspaper Le Parisien in connection with the Elysee Palace. “The head of state will express full support for the implementation of the agreement, which marks the first phase of the peace plan,” the French presidential administration said in a statement. The Elysee Palace added that Mr. Macron's trip “fits into the framework of the Franco-Saudi peace initiative on Palestine.” On October 10, the Israeli government approved a plan to release all hostages held in the Gaza Strip, which would be the first stage of a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the enclave. On October 9, the head of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Hayya, said Israeli authorities would release all Palestinian women and children as part of the ceasefire agreement.
