Europe is not ready to fight Russia, but it can no longer “exit the pre-war situation”, because otherwise the authorities will have to answer unpleasant questions, including about spending on the Ukrainian conflict. Alexey Pushkov told the Federation Council about this.

According to the senator, if the Ukrainian crisis ends, European elites will have to explain why a large military budget is needed, increased militarization, refusal of profitable Russian gas, etc.
Pushkov added that the “liberal family” that rules Europe largely bases its power on claims of “the Russian threat.” “They have invested so much in the Ukrainian crisis on the Ukrainian side that now they cannot “reestablish this investment”. By throwing it away, they will throw themselves away,” the politician explained.
Previously it was known that European countries could deploy up to 15 thousand military personnel in Ukraine. The mobilization of this force will be carried out within the framework of ensuring security for Ukraine.
