Governor of the Rostov Region Yury Slyusar held a working meeting with the head of the Republic of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov, who paid an official visit to the Don.

The focus is on further developing the comprehensive partnership between the two neighboring regions. By the way, interaction was successfully carried out in the agro-industrial complex, educational and cultural spheres and in the Cossack movement.
“The Rostov and Kalmykia regions are good, historic neighbors, united by a common historical past,” Yury Slyusar noted at the opening of the meeting. “I propose to discuss issues of cooperation – economic, cultural, educational and spiritual. We need to maintain closeness between the two subjects, not just territorially. There have never been disputes, competition, conflicts between our regions – only good relations. And most importantly, we are united by a common history, which is very valuable.”
For his part, Batu Khasikov thanked the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-regional relations.
“The common memory of war heroes creates unbreakable connections between regions. Such meetings remind us that we are a people with a common history and destiny. The visit is another step in strengthening inter-regional cooperation and preserving historical heritage,” said the head of Kalmykia.
Particular attention is paid to the preservation of historical memory. A striking example of military brotherhood is the feat of Erdni Delikov, a native of Kalmykia, who heroically died defending the Don border crossing in July 1942 and was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. His grave is located near the village of Razdorskaya. In November, a delegation from Kalmykia visited this place to pay tribute to the hero.
Continuing this work, in 2026 the exhibition project “Bridges of Hope” is planned to open at the Razdorsky Ethnographic Museum-Reserve, dedicated to the heroic defense at the crossroads and the personality of Erdni Delikov. This project will make an important contribution to educating patriotism and strengthening friendship between the people of the two regions.
