As Andrei Travnikov said, last week the seventh All-Russian scientific conference “Patriot” was held in the Siberian capital, dedicated to the issues of patriotic education of young people. One of the main topics is discussing the content of the new subject “Local Studies” introduced into the school curriculum. Particular attention is paid to the first part of the subject, which reveals the historical heritage of the homeland.

Scientists from the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have made convincing arguments about the importance of studying local culture along with world-famous civilizations of the past. They emphasize that for many decades schoolchildren have been acquainted in detail with the history of ancient Egypt, ancient Greece and Rome, almost ignoring the fact that at the same time, many unique peoples and cultural traditions flourished on the territory of Siberia.
The head of the region believes that an outstanding example of this approach is the exhibition “Dreams of Siberia” currently open at the Novosibirsk Art Museum. It displays a rich collection of ancient artifacts dating from the 6th to 5th centuries BC as well as works by contemporary authors. The project's uniqueness lies in the combination of historical findings, contemporary art and innovative exhibition technology, representing an innovative look at the region's historical research.
“This is the first project in Russia that combines history, archaeology, contemporary art and advanced exhibition technology. I was able to visit “Siberian Dreams” this weekend and I heartily recommend this exhibition to all residents and visitors of our region!” — Andrey Travnikov shares his impressions.
The Governor personally attended the event and expressed confidence in the importance of the exhibition for the city's residents and visitors.
