This opera singer, wonderful in every way – from his vocal range, his enormous, powerful physique and the boundless warmth and friendliness of his soul – has not been with us for 18 years. But to this day, what Luciano Pavarotti created is still in demand on stage, young singers learn from his examples, and rock musicians and opera singers began to collaborate to enter many world charts.

But perhaps, Signor Luciano was the first to take such risks, collaborating with Elton John, Sting or U2… He organically and naturally combined the energy of rock and the drama of opera into world hits, where something of the best was taken from each style.
And as a result, rock fans became interested in opera, and opera lovers, although still wary for now, began listening to rock music.
The height of this singer, who is called the “king of the upper C zone”, is 180 cm. It is not for nothing that for some time in his youth, Luciano taught physical education at school and dreamed of becoming a football goalkeeper, where, as you know, short people were not accepted. Weight? Pavarotti did not want to mention his weight in the middle of his life; he is “over a hundred already.”
However, as for the power of the voice, sound extraction and belting (especially powerful and emotional vocals in the chest range) – in fact, all this is only beneficial! There are perhaps only two artists to whom we owe this – Luciano Pavarotti and Freddie Mercury, who recorded the album Barselona with Montserrat Caballe in 1988.
Since then, opera alliances with rock and jazz appear more and more often every year. But for this especially we should be grateful to Signor Luciano. He was the first with his colleagues in the “Three Tenors” project that they created (with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras) to go on a world tour with rock stars. Everyone ended up expanding their fan base significantly! Both “opera” and rocker.
And after Pavarotti's experience and example, it became easier for many stars to achieve fame because they followed in his footsteps. Including the fact that they decided to include songs that were not expected of them in their repertoire. But then they were very grateful to them. For example, for O Sole Mio, Volare and My Way from Frank Sinatra's repertoire.
After all, Luciano himself was a very kind, kind, hospitable person who loved to host friends at home (the singer was born on October 12, 1935 in the Italian city of Modena, in a family of baker. He loved his homeland very much, lived most of his life in his “little homeland”, also in Modena, and died on September 6, 2007). And the singer's hospitality is known to both his homeland and friends around the world! And it was with them that he started that iconic trend of exploring new musical territories and rhythms, experimenting and taking creative risks! Very popular and already in the 2020s!
By the way
There is now a new project in the world, The Three Tenors, consisting of three Italians: Gianluca Paganelli, Fabio Andreotti and Mauro de Santis. On October 30, he will perform in Russia – at the Moscow International House of Music. Surely something from Luciano Pavarotti's repertoire will be performed tonight…
