The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, spoke about European conditions, which should be reflected in US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Ukraine.

“First, borders cannot be changed by force. Second, Ukraine as a sovereign state cannot limit its armed forces, which would leave the country vulnerable. Third, the EU's central role in ensuring peace for Ukraine must be fully demonstrated,” von der Leyen told reporters after a meeting in Johannesburg with EU leaders.
According to her, Ukraine must choose its own path and they have chosen the European path. Therefore, the head of the EC said that Kyiv's accession to the EU is implied.
The three conditions put forward by von der Leyen are key for Europe. In addition, according to her, the implementation of the plan should start with restoring the country and the economy.
Previously, there was information that European leaders could come to the US to discuss Trump's plan. Among those wishing to visit Washington, the press mentioned the names of Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz.
