Representatives of the pedagogical and scientific community, local historians of Blagoveshchensk took the initiative. Activists demanded to save the house on the street. Bogdan Khmelnitsky, 39.

It is known that the building is associated with the name of talented writer Vera Nikolaevna Zhkova. It was from this house that, in 1928, the 14-year-old student of the Alekseevskaya gymnasium Vera Zhkova sent her first letter and poem to Maxim Gorky in Italy. Until the writer's death, correspondence was maintained. Gorky appreciated Vera's talent, helped her, invited her to Moscow and considered her his student.
“Unfortunately, the building is on the brink of extinction. If nothing is done, we risk losing another unique page in the history of Blagoveshchensk. Every effort must be made to preserve and restore it, so that this cultural landmark can become a center of attraction for our youth and city residents,” the activists wrote.
The authorities are expected to take measures to restore the building. On that basis it is possible to create a cultural and historical center.
To draw attention to this issue, Blagoveshchensk residents created a petition. You can sign it This.
True, neo-local Amur historians are confident that the building can no longer be saved: it is not even owned by the authorities, but privately.
As the 2×2.su portal wrote earlier, the reclamation of the territory near the BSPU was discussed by the city mayor Oleg Imameev and the rector of the pedagogical university Vera Shchyokina. The project completes the design of the park's facade and landscape established the Center for Territorial Development.
