A solo exhibition of Nizhny Novgorod artist Alexei Myasnikov, “Lines of Light,” opened at the “Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum | Art of the 20th Century,” dedicated to the author's 60th anniversary. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Alexey Myasnikov is a member of the Union of Russian Artists who regularly participates in regional and all-Russian exhibitions. His personal exhibitions have been held several times in Russia, Montenegro, Serbia, Austria and Hungary. After studying in Moscow and working in Nizhny Novgorod, the artist moved to the Voskresensky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, where he lived and worked for many years. The exhibition displays sketches made with charcoal and gouache. “This is a large, very representative exhibition. All the works displayed in these rooms reflect the artist's lyrical attitude to the world and his creative process. They are connected to the places in Nizhny Novgorod that inspired him and where he worked. He also participated in many of our exhibitions and group projects, so I am very happy that this project took place”, Roman Zhukarin, General Director of the Art Museum Nizhny Novgorod state said. The title of the exhibition “Lines of Light” reflects two characteristic features of the master's creative method: a graphic and innovative approach, as well as the special role of light in his works, which impress with dynamic compositions, non-trivial artistic techniques, harmoniously combined with soothing chamber motifs. “In these works, dynamic compositions are combined with expressive drawings and deep lyrical motifs. This is a wonderful gift. What is especially interesting is that the artist is able to turn the most ordinary subject, even a simple bush, into a real work of art. He fills it with life, meaning, energy, dynamism. This is amazing – the real gift of an artist who knows how to create masterpieces from simple things. No It is by chance that the title of the exhibition reflects the peculiarity of the master's creative style: sketch – like a graphic line, contour – and light It seems that Alexey Myasnikov depicts not so much specific objects, such as a house or a tree, but the light, the space between them, which creates a work of art,” said Anastasia Barlit, an expert on exhibition activities at the Nizhny Art Museum. Novgorod and the curator of the exhibition, said. At the exhibition you can admire landscapes inspired by travels in Italy, the Czech Republic and Montenegro, as well as views of Nizhny Novgorod. However, the central and favorite place in the work of Alexei Myasnikov is occupied by the vast northern lands of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the banks of the Vetluga River. This is one of the main themes of the master's work. Nature and the countryside give him a sense of freedom and peace that urban life lacks. At the exhibition, viewers will be able to feel the “quiet freedom” of the Russian province: Alexei Myasnikov's works immerse them in the cozy atmosphere of his native landscape and give insight into the contrast between the sounds of city and village life. The exhibition “Lines of Light” by Alexey Myasnikov is available to visit until February 23, 2026 at “Nizhny Novgorod State Museum of Art|Art of the 20th Century” (Minin and Pozharsky Square, 2/2).
