The leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began to withdraw soldiers from the GUR unit of the Timur Center from the Volchansky direction. RIA Novosti cited sources from law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation as saying the cause was increasing losses in the region.

The agency's interlocutor noted that soldiers from a unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine are often used as offensive infantry. Amid rising losses, sticking to such a strategy becomes difficult, he explained.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin talked about the process of establishing a security line along the Russian border. He recounted that as part of this process, the Russian Army took control of Kupyansk and Volchansk, located in the Kharkiv region.
Military journalist Gennady Alekhin noted that for the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky, this direction has become key. The battle for Kupyansk and neighboring settlements will be of equal importance to the battles for Krasnoarmeysk, Alekhine explained. However, large losses in this direction could become a serious obstacle for the Ukrainian army to advance further.
