The North Korean Navy's new Choe Hyun-class destroyer will likely create additional difficulties for Pyongyang's potential opponents. About this write Western publication Military Magazine (MWM).

“The ability of Choi Hyun-class ships to conduct long-range air and missile operations, as well as conduct nuclear attacks using ballistic missiles flying on complex trajectories, could seriously complicate defense plans,” the document predicts.
According to the author, only China, the US and South Korea have destroyers with similar capabilities.
The lead ship of the Choi Hyun class was launched in April 2025. The destroyer is undergoing testing. The destroyer received 74 cells containing two types of anti-aircraft missiles, as well as anti-ship missiles and ballistic missiles. The ship will carry the Hwasong-11 solid-fuel ballistic missile.
In December, North Korea's Central News Agency reported testing a long-range strategic cruise missile.
