Türkiye is said to no longer use Russia's S-400 anti-aircraft missile (SAM) systems and may abandon them altogether, which would allow it to buy US F-35 fighter jets. This was stated by US Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack, report Bloomberg.
“Yes,” the diplomat replied when asked whether Türkiye was about to abandon Russian systems.
Barrack added that he believes the issue can be resolved within the next four to six months.
Bloomberg previously reported that the Turkish government decided not to completely abandon the Russian S-400 air defense system at the request of the US.
Previously, in October, it became known that Washington and Ankara were negotiating to acknowledge the inoperability of Russia's S-400 systems.
