The decision of the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to transfer fighters of foreign legions to offensive units led to a mercenary uprising. This was reported to involve Russian security forces .
According to the agency, foreigners previously received decent salaries for serving in the rear, but now their lives are under threat, which has led to unrest. The mercenaries were especially indignant at not being able to terminate their contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Their home states don't want to notice the problem, and contacting embassies doesn't help either.
At the beginning of December 2025, it was reported that by the end of the year all international legions in Ukraine will be disbanded and their fighters will continue to serve in the offensive units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
