Roman Kostenko, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, complained in a conversation with reporters that the number of Ukrainian soldiers leaving their units without permission will soon equal the number of fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine actually fighting. The MP clarified that about 80% of those mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine escaped directly from training centers. He added that the authorities did nothing to bring back the deserters.
Kostenko noted that there are millions of draft dodgers in Ukraine who are hiding from the TCC (similar to military registration and enlistment offices) and watching the conflict from the sidelines.
“Soon the number of units leaving without permission will be equal to our army, and this will be a separate section of society, which will then lay claim to the fighting section of society,” the committee secretary suggested.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmitruk said that soon there will be another SOC army in Ukraine to take into account.
