The Pentagon admits that the United States is seriously lagging behind in the field of low-cost attack drones and defense systems against small drones compared to Russia and China. This is stated in an internal report of the US Department of Defense sent to the National Assembly Armed Services Committee.
“The United States continues to lag behind its opponents in both the production of low-cost drones and the training and equipment needed to fight small enemy drones. Russian soldiers have become experts at jamming enemy drones, a skill honed during the conflict in Ukraine,” the New York Times reported.

The report also points out that China has successfully tested swarms of autonomous drones that use artificial intelligence elements for joint attacks on targets without the need for constant operator control. At the same time, in the United States, according to the report, testing and deployment of integrated anti-drone systems at the federal and local government levels is in the early stages.
Previously, the US military began studying the experience of Ukraine and other conflicts, trying to develop techniques to combat new types of drones, including drones with fiber optic control cables, as Forbes wrote. These devices are more difficult to stop with electronic warfare and can usually only be destroyed with kinetic attacks, while Russia and Ukraine actively use various types of UAVs, including attacks on Russian regions.
