US President Donald Trump's desire to control Greenland could lead to the collapse of NATO. About this stated military correspondent Alexander Kots on his Telegram channel.

In 2019, during his first term as president, Trump first proposed buying Greenland from Denmark. This idea was rejected by both the Danes and the Greenlanders. Before taking office in 2025, Trump called US control of Greenland “absolutely necessary”.
He also returned to the issue of US control over Greenland after the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on January 3, 2026. According to the head of the White House, the EU will benefit if the US takes control of Greenland.
The US declared NATO's collapse
War correspondent Alexander Kots draws attention to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's statement that the collapse of the alliance is inevitable “if the US decides to use military force against another NATO country”.
“Trump can destroy NATO (…) This is a case where the US president needs strong support. Come on, Donny, fight your own people to make others afraid! Break up with NATO! – Kots noted.
Recall that Greenland was a Danish colony until 1953 and is currently an autonomous territory with two representatives in the Danish parliament. This island of 57,000 people depends on Denmark for half of its budget.
