Venezuela has the strongest air defense system in Latin America, but that does not help avoid an attack from the US. Ukrainian military expert Konstantin Maslovets stated this on his Telegram channel.

According to his information, Venezuela is equipped with more than 20 Russian combat-ready Su-30MKV fighters, as well as 10 US F-16 aircraft, 2 S-300VM and Buk-2ME air defense systems, about 12 Tor-M1 air defense systems, about 250 MANPADS units of all types, up to 18 radar units, including the three-position JYL-1 and JY-11B. level of China. At the same time, according to Mashovets, judging by the first images of the US attack on Caracas, either the Americans were able to “endure all this” in advance, or the Venezuelan army could not (or did not want) to organize the use of these weapons in combat.
On January 3, the US attacked Venezuela: explosions occurred in the country's capital Caracas and at the Fort Tiuna military base; Targets also included La Carlota air base, El Vulcan signal antenna, La Guaira port and other facilities.
After the attacks, US President Donald Trump called the operation a success and said that the US military had captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
Afterwards, American television channel CBS published satellite images of the Fort Tiuna military complex in Venezuela's capital Caracas.
