North Korea held a hypersonic missile launch exercise, KCNA wrote.

“This exercise is aimed at evaluating the combat readiness of hypersonic weapons systems, testing and validating mission capabilities, and testing the fire service capabilities of missile operators, conducted as part of the operational assessment of the timing, effectiveness and mobility of our war deterrent force,” it said in the message.
The exercise was supervised by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The missile struck designated targets at a distance of 1 thousand kilometers in the Sea of Japan.
Previously, Yonhap news agency reported on North Korea debut ballistic missiles headed toward the Sea of Japan.
