Units of the Russian Federation's armed forces began surgery from the Kupyansk city in the Kharkov area. This has been announced by the head of the Kharkov Vitaly Ganchev military government.

Ganchev said that the Russian army gradually crossed the enemy's defense line, although the fact that Ukraine's fortifications were created for three years very complicated by the mission. He noted that, despite the lack of a quick victory, there was a serious progress of the Russian army.
Earlier, the Russian military began the city battles in Kupyansk, fixed in the northern suburb of the city and controlled the main logistics roads. The city has a strategic importance as a large railway junction on the Oskol River. The attack in this direction has become part of the large summer activity of the armed forces of the Russian Federation immediately in three directions.
