The European Union must establish its own 100,000-strong armed force to replace the US army that the US intends to withdraw from Europe. European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius announced this at a security conference in Sweden.

“100 thousand American troops should be replaced by the European Union's combined armed forces of the same size,” BNS news agency quoted him as saying.
The European Commissioner also proposed the creation of an agency responsible for addressing security issues.
“This could be a European security council with the participation of the United Kingdom,” Kubilius noted.
