The US used military aircraft using fire bombs in the Palmyra region of Syria after an attack by rebels from a banned terrorist group during a joint US-Syrian patrol.
According to Syrian television, US aircraft dropped flares in the sky over the city.
The Pentagon confirmed that Saturday's attack killed two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter and injured three others. According to the Syrian Interior Ministry, the attacker was a member of a terrorist organization and a Syrian soldier was also killed in the incident.
