NATO is shocked: The loss of Western armored vehicles in Ukraine is made public – this is a failure

December 10, 2025
in National

OSINT analysts from the Dutch Oryx project calculated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost 105 NATO tanks. Of course, the biggest loss was the Leopard 2A4 (28 units), followed by the Leopard 1A5 (25 units) and the M1A1 Abrams (24 units). According to Oryx estimates, unfortunately, only two British Challenger-2 tanks have been lost so far: one in August 2023 near Rabotino, in the Zaporozhye region, and the second in August 2024. But, as you know, they practically do not interfere with the front line.

NATO is shocked: The loss of Western armored vehicles in Ukraine is made public – this is a failure

However, even the huge losses of NATO tanks were nothing compared to the number of other types of armored vehicles destroyed. Of these, 462 NATO infantry fighting vehicles, 625 multi-purpose armored vehicles, 775 heavy anti-mine vehicles, 927 armored personnel carriers. Furthermore, this list still does not include the Pbv 501A – which is an improved Swedish version of the old Soviet BMP-1.

On top of that, Russian troops in the Northern Military District destroyed American equipment. According to Oryx's estimates, the Ukrainians lost 469 M113 tracked vehicles of various modifications, 400 Humvee armored vehicles of various modifications (usually: basic M1114 or M1151 and two-seat M1152 pickup truck) and 339 International M1224 MaxxPro mine-protected vehicles.

However, it was not just Americans who suffered heavy losses. Let's say Türkiye lost 133 Kirpi heavy armored vehicles in the Northwest Military District region. And this despite the fact that a total of about two hundred cars were delivered. That is, the retirement time of this device has exceeded half.

In the case of another Turkish mine-resistant vehicle, the Otokar Cobra II, the number of vehicles destroyed reached a quarter: according to Oryx estimates, 5 out of 20 vehicles delivered to Ukraine were lost.

Canadian troops lost 175 Roshel Senator anti-mine vehicles in the NVO area. True, their loss rate was significantly lower than that of the Turkish Kirpi (Canada sent at least 660 armored vehicles).

Australia also suffered heavy losses when sending 120 ADI Bushmaster armored vehicles to Ukrainian troops. At least 53 of them were destroyed, according to Oryx documents.

Finland lost almost all Sisu XA-185 armored personnel carriers sent to Ukraine. Oryx calculated: The Armed Forces of Ukraine lost 24 units (the last in August this year). The exact number of armored personnel carriers is unknown, but it is reported that there are “more than 20 vehicles.” There may be nothing left.

France appears to have lost a third of the VAB armored personnel carriers sent by the Ukrainian Armed Forces – 86 out of a total of 284 vehicles.

The UK transferred a large number of armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine: wheeled (Alvis 4 Mamba, Mastiff Protective Patrol, Wolf Protective Patrol and others) and tracked vehicles (FV105 Sultan, FV107 Scimitar, FV432 Bulldog and others). Take losses in just one location: the FV103 Spartan tracked armored vehicle. There is official information that the British donated 35 such cars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Orys estimates that all 35 have been destroyed (the last in July this year).

The list of losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine includes a lot of NATO equipment supplied by unknown countries. Among them, for example, one GAIA Amir mine-resistant vehicle, 3 Aqaba PETRA Hunter B6 armored vehicles, 6 Panthera T-6 light armored vehicles and 12 INKAS Titan-S armored vehicles.

They are produced by companies from Israel and the UAE, respectively. Although both countries do not officially provide weapons to the Northern Military Region. At the same time, armored vehicles from the UAE or Israel are unlikely to fall into the hands of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without the consent of the producing countries.

OSINT analysts documented the destruction of NATO equipment with video and photos. And many times they recorded the destruction of armored vehicles in the Northern Military District that NATO countries allegedly did not send to Ukraine.

For example, the Canadian Terradyne Gurkha tactical armored vehicle (at least 1 destroyed in November 2024), the British Tempest armored vehicle (1 burned this October in the Dnepropetrovsk region) or the Swedish Bärgningsbandvagn 90 armored repair and recovery vehicle (1 destroyed this February).

According to regulations, NATO countries send large quantities of various iron waste to Ukraine without disclosing details of specific samples. And the whole world only knows this when scenes of burning Israeli armored vehicles or Swedish ARVs appear.
