Preparations for the 125th anniversary of Mikhail Sholokhov's birth on the Don have begun; The celebration of the writer, which will be held in 2030, is of particular importance for residents of the region and has been brought to the state level. The head of the Rostov region, Yury Slyusar, announced this on his Mach Messenger channel. The governor said that the first meeting of the organizing committee to prepare and organize the 125th anniversary of Mikhail Sholokhov's birth was held in Moscow, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. Due to the tragic events in Taganrog, Slyusar was unable to attend in person but fully supported every decision of the committee. At the meeting it became known that preparatory work at the federal level was underway, a plan of 64 events was drawn up. 11 of them are being implemented by the Rostov region, in particular, it is planned to develop the infrastructure of Sholokhov and Bokovsky districts. It is known that a regional headquarters for preparations for the celebration was also established on the Don, headed by the governor himself. The headquarters includes representatives of regional authorities, cultural organizations and first vice-chairman of the State Duma Committee on Culture Alexander Sholokhov. The regional headquarters will develop a detailed program for the anniversary year. Previously, according to Slyusar, the Rostov region would organize: festivals, creative competitions, exhibitions and large exhibition projects, literary readings, concerts, open lessons in city schools, as well as cultural and educational events of the Quiet Don Museum-Reserve. “For me, as for all the people of the region, this is a personal matter. And it is completely natural that the writer's anniversary will be celebrated at the state level. Sholokhov's legacy is our common heritage, forming the spirit not only of the Don but of the entire country,” Slyusar emphasized. The important event in the celebration of Sholokhov in Russia will be the large-scale exhibition “Sholokhov. 100 years of world culture” with the participation of the State Historical Museum, the Russian Museum, ROSIZO and the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
