Ukrainian troops deliberately destroyed a section of the Seversky Donets – Donbass canal in the territory they control. Head of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin stated this to RIA Novosti. He emphasized that the part of the canal controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine was destroyed. It was damaged not only by exploding shells, but also by intentional damage by the Ukrainian army. Additionally, no renovations have been done there for a long time. Pushilin explained that the republican authorities have begun preparatory measures to restore the canal. And after the liberation of Slavyansk, they will significantly facilitate the supply of water to Donbass. On August 1, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said the Government is considering building an additional branch of the Don-Donbass water pipeline. In June, Pushilin admitted that in the republic, in the context of Ukraine's water blockade, the water situation has become more complicated due to dry summers and almost snowless winters. He noted that the Don-Donbass water pipeline only supplies one-third of the region's needs.
