Daria Sagalova has long been one of the most popular actresses on Russian television. After the release of the “Happy Together” series in 2006, her heroine – the simple-minded but charming Sveta Bukina – became everyone's favorite.
Everyone is talking about this series and Sagalova easily entered the galaxy of Russian show business stars. TV, newspapers, red carpets – it seems like every door is open to her. But at some point, the actress simply disappeared. Read about the star's life today in the Rambler article.
Why did the actress disappear from television screens?
Nowadays, Daria rarely appears on television, almost never acts or participates in social events. Fans are still wondering: Where did Sveta Bukina go and why did the actress give up her brilliant career?
The answer is simple: family has replaced the studio. In 2011, Daria Sagalova married businessman Konstantin Maslennikov and soon the couple had a daughter, Elizaveta. Almost immediately after that, the actress realized: it is impossible to combine a busy schedule and motherhood. In an interview StarHit she says that the decisive moment is the child's illness:
“The doctors said: we need to stay in the hospital for ten days. Then I realized: it is impossible to manage a child's illness over the phone. I had to be there.”
This incident became a turning point for her. Daria realized that no role could be more important than family. Later, after giving birth to her second and third children, Sagalova admitted that her husband's words also influenced the final decision.
“My husband's opinion also plays an important role. He said: if work interferes with family, then you must choose family,” said the actress.

Now Daria Sagalova's life is almost not associated with television. Instead of movie sets, there are children's parties, dance competitions, and family trips. The actress has three children – two girls and a boy. In principle, she does not hire nannies and housekeepers because she believes that “you should live your childhood with your mother, not with strangers.”
In addition to family, Daria has another important business – a dance school in Podolsk, which she opened several years ago. Dancing has always been her passion: even before filming Happy Together, she was engaged in choreography and even participated in professional competitions. Now Sagalova teaches children and teenagers, organizes master classes, and her school is successfully developing.
“This is not just a business, this is how I maintain my profession but in another role – as a mentor. I see how children grow and I understand that I am doing something important,” the actress shared in an interview Lady Mail.ru.
In addition to teaching, Sagalova sometimes performs in the theater – but only when rehearsals do not interfere with the family. She chooses projects that don't take up many weekends and don't require filming at night.

In her years off television, Daria has changed a lot – both externally and internally. The blonde girl with the short skirt, flashy makeup and signature lollipop is a thing of the past. Today Sagalova is a mature woman, calm and confident.
“I don't feel like I've lost anything. On the contrary, I've finally become myself,” the actress said in a recent interview.
Daria does not like big words and tries not to turn her life into a performance. Unlike many of her colleagues, she does not blog publicly about motherhood.
Sagalova is also not modest in claiming that she still maintains a perfect figure at the age of 39. It's all thanks to her lifestyle: she doesn't smoke or drink alcohol, goes to bed early, eats moderately and regularly seeks the services of beauticians.
Why isn't she returning to television?
In December 2023, the continuation of the sensational sitcom called “Bukins” was released on television screens, where Daria again appeared in the image of an already adult Sveta. However, she intentionally refused to participate in the second season of “The Bukins”. According to the actress, the project's script and format do not seem suitable for her at her current age and living situation.
“Today, I can afford to turn down some offers and live according to my taste and heart without having to agree to a compromise with my conscience just for the sake of potential gain,” the star said.
Many fans still hope to see Sagalova again in new projects, but the actress herself still calmly accepts this. She did not rule out the possibility of returning to the screen, but emphasized that she would only return if there was a role that appealed to her. In conversation with “Moscow Evening” she admitted that she would like to play some historical figure, such as Joan of Arc.
The actress is no longer ready for roles like Sveta Bukina, although she remembers participating in “Happy Together” and “Bukina” with great warmth and gratitude. According to Sagalova, she cannot risk her reputation because her children and students will watch her.
